United Airlines

today honored its top employees at a celebration luncheon at Chicago’s Palmer House Hilton. The company designed the “United 100” program to recognize 100 employees nominated and selected by their co-workers for exemplary performance or achievements that support the cornerstones of the company’s business plan. Being honored as a United 100 recipient is one of the company’s highest honors for employee recognition.

“In our Working Together service culture, it’s not just what we do, but how we do it,” said Jeff Smisek, United’s chairman, president and CEO, during the awards ceremony. “Every day we come to work we make a choice to approach our jobs with commitment, energy and a positive attitude. I want to thank these United 100 winners who illustrate what we can achieve when we do that.”

United 100 winners work in locations all across United’s worldwide operation, including Guam, London, Tokyo, Frankfurt, Germany, and all of the airline’s eight domestic hubs. Each was selected and nominated by their fellow co-workers for their commitment to and focus on the company’s Working Together culture. All of United’s more than 85,000 employees are eligible for the program and may be nominated quarterly by their co-workers, from flight attendants and pilots to ramp agents and route planners.

To show appreciation for their contributions, United awarded each winner with a $500 cash prize and two roundtrip airline tickets to anywhere the airline flies.

The United 100 program is part of the company’s commitment to making United the airline co-workers want to work for, customers want to fly and investors want to invest in.
