2 Die as Small Plane Crashes in Southern Calif
Federal Aviation Administration spokesman Mike Fergus says both people on board were killed when the single-engine plane went down near Corona on Saturday.
The Riverside Press-Enterprise says the plane crashed at the base of a mountain, caught fire on impact and sparked a small brushfire.
Firefighters from Corona, the U.S. Forest Service and the California Department of Corrections quickly surrounded it after it burned about one acre.
Officials from the National Transportation Safety Board are headed to the site and will lead the investigation.
Authorities did not release provide any information about the victims or the aircraft’s flight plan.
