Kaiser expands Aerospace Extrusion Facility in Arizona
Kaiser Aluminum, one of the leading producers of specialty aluminum products for aerospace, general engineering, custom automotive and industrial applications, has started to expand its aerospace extrusion facility located in Chandler, Arizona.
Kaiser Alexco is the name of the facility and it produces hard alloy extruded shapes. The company has made an investment of about $11 million and the expansion work is anticipated to be completed by the end of 2011. The expansion will offer additional extrusion and heat treatment capacity that helps to address the increasing demand for the hard alloy products.
Chairman, President and CEO, Jack A Hockema pointed out that the current growth in the commercial aerospace and exceptional demand in the market provide a major opportunity for Kaiser Aluminum to expand its manufacturing platform as well as market presence for future growth. Hard alloy extrusion line is a part of the company’s wide product portfolio used for aerospace applications. Kaiser Alexco’s expansion will improve the company’s status as a supplier of hard alloy aerospace extrusions. In addition to extrusions, Kaiser Aluminum produces value-added drawn tube, cold finish products, sheet and plate.
