Skydiving instructor dies in Polk county
Friends and co-workers say it was a “terrible accident…and a miscalculation” that caused the death of a metro-area skydiving instructor.
It happened Saturday morning at “The Sky Dive Farm” in Polk County.
Friends say 41-year old Rodrigo Bianchini was trying to land by “skimming” the water with his feet but instead, he made his final turn too low and died after hitting the water head first.
Bianchini’s friends and co-workers say he’d jumped out of a plane more than 2,200 times.
Experts say statistically accidents happen after 1,500 jumps because that’s when a jumper’s confidence and comfort level goes up.
